We're going outside? Without a human? Could be kind of dangerous, you know, in a lethally sort of way.

I was ruminating Babe: Pig in the City; I thought of Googling for info to see if a third film was ever in the cards before the financial failure or perhaps is in the cards after the financial success of Happy Feet, so I type in "George Miller" "Babe 3" (with quotes).

Same old news stories, until I notice a PDF result titled "Ken Steel" (closer examination reveals that it is the resume of Ken Steel, a man with the quintessential badass name), and I see some interesting text.
Currently working as a Lead Animator at Kennedy Miller Mitchell. Responsibilities include, working as part of a small creative team designed to aid George Miller in defining a creative direction for current and future productions such as Justice League of America, Happy Feet 2, Babe 3, and Mad Max 4.
Then came that mental "What? I thought that Happy Feet 2 and Babe 3 were merely being discussed," which obviously leads me to add "Happy Feet 2" (again, with quotes) to the existing query. With this query, I noticed a website for Dr. D Studios that features the following message:
Greetings from Dr.D studios, Sydney Australia
Academy Award winning producers George Miller and Doug Mitchell have partnered with Omnilab Media Group in creating a boldly significant Australian digital media company, Dr. D Studios.

George Miller said, “The brave new age of digital film-making is little more than a decade old. It offers extraordinary possibilities for storytellers like us who strive to break new ground with each of our movies. We have the perfect union of Omnilab Media’s resources and infrastructure with KMM’s story driven film making.”

Doug Mitchell adds, "Bottom line we aspire to push the boundaries and, in the process, elucidate the mysteries of storytelling."

Come join us as we dissect and reconstruct several large scale film projects with a growing team of top talent from Australia and beyond.

George Miller says, “This is a very real opportunity to build on past successes with a continuous flow of ambitious projects and contribute to the future of digital cinema.”

Currently in production: Happy Feet 2
Currently in Pre-production: Babe 3, Fury Road and Justice League of America
(image capture as well)

Also, Firefox HTML info says the last page modification was "Mon, Aug 4, 2008 9:42:34 PM."

So, obviously I Google "Dr. D Studios" (again, with quotes). I encountered a few job postings for the studio, all featuring "Happy Feet 2" in the description. In addition, the job postings themselves say "Currently we are working on Happy Feet 2, with several other film projects to follow."

I did also Google "Kennedy Miller Mitchell" and noticed a May press release that said "Omnilab Media has also created a new digital film company with Kennedy Miller Mitchell to use groundbreaking digital storytelling, animation and visual effects. This will include HAPPY FEET 2, BABE 3 & MAD MAX 4 and a range of other blue-chip properties in development."

In conclusion, you bet I am excited for a third Babe movie.

Nice digging. Although I wrote this piece in November last year:

We followed it up recently, with all that Dr D stuff but the focus was largely on Omnilab - who financed The Bank Job and Oliver Stone's upcoming W - and did some special effects for 300 too.

I am also so very, very excited - for all three films; George Miller's never going to get his due recognition. Herm.

simon - Yeah, I saw that press release - pretty amusing that an utterly British film and an utterly American film are actually financed by an Australian company.

superhobo - I can't think of anyone other than George that I don't freak out when I hear that he is creating a sequel in relation to his own creations; it is a shame that he'll never get recognized artistic dexterity.
